Xingxin on Bug This week I submitted the very first paper of my PhD! Regardless of the final result, this is a massive milestone!
The Last Slurm Job
When I received this email on the morning of September 22nd, I felt anxious and uncertain. This was likely my last chance to train a policy that could successfully demo the rest of the contact-rich tasks for my paper except the main one. The good news? When I rolled out the 4 tasks, they all succeeded!
At that moment, I literally screamed in the lab. It was such a close call managing to get it working at the very last minute. ( Note to self: please don’t do this next time! 😭 )
Sometimes, you just have to trust your intuition.
Collaboration
Besides luck and intuition, I am also blessed with incredibly trustworthy and pragmatic co-authors. Without them, finishing this paper would have been completely impossible. Thank you Yuxuan, Haonan, Chuhan, and Kaile!! And, of course, a huge thank you to my supervisor for his trust.
Alright, alright, I know. The paper is still under review, so why am I giving a speech like this? :- ) Well. I believe in always being thankful for the people around you. Isn’t that the luckiest thing I have? ❤️

Windsurfing
How could I celebrate a milestone without my favorite sport? Oh yeah! I visited St. Stephen’s Beach Water Sports Center this Saturday. Although the wind was quite weak, it gave me the time and focus to really refine my gybing technique.
I am getting so close to collecting the required practice hours for the intermediate level training! : -)
